Place des Victoires was built in homage to Louis XIV or rather to his victories – hence the name. Not far away is the famous Galerie Vivienne and its designer boutiques. Very chic, very Parisian. A Parisian stroll…

Place des Victoires mainly consists of fashion boutiques and restaurants. Time for some shopping and some tasty treats…

Begin the itinerary at place des Victoires. All around the square and in the adjoining streets, in particular rue Etienne Marcel, are fashion designer shops such as Kenzo, whose flagship store looks directly onto the square.
You can reach Galerie Vivienne by taking the little street called Rue Vide Gousset, where you will pass by a very nice bakery / tearoom, the Moulin de la Vierge, and arrive at the Basilica of Notre-Dame des Victoires on Place des Petits Pères. Orchidist Sylvain George’s interesting shop is just opposite. Continue walking and then take the small passageway (…also called des Petits Pères) and you will find yourself on rue de la Banque, facing Legrand Filles et Fils, a traditional grocery shop where you can enjoy French traditional recipes along with a glass of wine.

Galerie Vivienne: a covered thoroughfare in the heart of Paris. Shops, galleries and everything you need for sustenance and treating yourself. Not forgetting its sister passageway next door, the Galerie Colbert…

There are three entrances to Galerie Vivienne: Rue de la banque, Rue des Petits Champs or Rue Vivienne.
When you enter through number 4, Rue des Petits Champs, you pass “between” the Bistrot Vivienne that is established at both ends of the Galerie. Its small terrace is open in summer and winter and as it is protected from the elements.
Note that on the opposite pavement, a little further along at number 7, Rue des Petits Champs, there is a restaurant serving traditional food from the south-west of France. Aux Bons Crus serves simple fare that is very good.
Galerie Vivienne is marvellous in any season and a fairytale wonderland during the Christmas holidays. A lot of work has gone into the shop fronts, the mosaic floors, the arcades…and there are a number of details to appreciate….. And of course there are also the shops!
Among some of the names are: Wolff & Descourtis, a shop selling traditionally crafted fabrics, Nathalie Garçon, a French fashion designer, Céline Robert, a bag designer and Emilio Robba who presents very creative artificial flowers that are extremely realistic! At the end of the galerie is l’Aparté, a really charming decoration and table arts shop. For the tea break there is a tearoom, A Priori Thé. So, there is no danger that you will be bored here.
