The Village Popincourt in the heart of the 11th arrondissement is a little atol that houses second-hand shops and antiquarians. You will also find restaurants that are the ideal place to take a break before setting off on a quest for the ideal object. In short, it is THE place to combine a weekend stroll, shopping and tasty treats!

At the junction of Rue Ternaux and Rue Neuve-Popincourt is a tiny, calm and picturesque square with a village atmosphere, edged with oddly named shops. Here you are in the Village Popincourt. Originally entirely devoted to second-hand shops, the village, which consists of just a few streets, now counts a multitude of shops of all kinds with pretty old-world shop fronts. Furniture, decoration, lighting, 1950s or contemporary style – there is something for every taste!

The second-hand area

If you are on a quest for a specific object, an impulse buy or just strolling through the village, here are some of the second-hand shops:
Alasinglinglin, a colourful kind of second-hand. There you will find furniture, lighting and many other decorative objects from the 1950 to the 1970s. Both offbeat and design, this shop is very much in vogue.
Trolls et Puces and Belle Lurette, the two-in-one. On one side Trolls et Puces, with restored wooden shutters, a old traffic light or wire lockers; on the other Belle Lurette, where a pretty dressing table flirts with a Napoleon III-style sofa. As you can see, this is where variety reigns, so keep your eyes peeled; that rare object you have been looking for could be hiding here…
Recycling, in a different style, is second-hand recycled. Between industrial lamps and recycled cushions, you will find the perfect graffiti artist kit…

For the food break:  gluten-free tart or pizza by the kilo?

Between two antique shops, take time out for a treat at the famous little square at the junction between Rue Ternaux and Rue Neuve-Popincourt. If you have a sweet tooth, try one of the tarts from the gluten-free bakery Chambelland. Lemon meringue, chocolate or fruit, they are all to die for! Fancy a freshly-squeezed fruit juice? Cross over to Paris-Féni just opposite! If you would prefer something savoury and you like pizza, head for Al Taglio. There is a large selection of pizzas sold by weight or by the slice. We recommend the one with truffles – delizioso!
You could also try A Boire et à Manger, just a stone’s throw away on Rue Oberkampf. This new generation delicatessen, with regional and organic products sells home-made country pâté, dried sausage and cheese, along with organic fruit juice, chocolate, marshmallows or savoury biscuits. We are sure that you will want some of everything!
