1 – The Macaron
French pastries come in a thousand flavours and colours, so there is something for everyone! Crispy on the top and soft within… yummy! The only problem is that it is gone so quickly! The most famous ones in Paris are undoubtedly those made by Ladurée and prettily displayed in the magnificent boxes that it is a joy to keep.
2- The Chouquette
A derivative of choux pastry, it has also been revisited by the great French chefs Michalak and Ducasse for our pleasure. Race to Choux d’Enfer to sample it!
3 – The Eclair
It can come in any colour and the cream inside the choux pastry case can come in many flavours. Our favourite chef is Christophe Adam and his Eclairs de Génie.
4- The Religieuse
We’ll go to Hell and back for one! Sorry!
5- The Financier
A pastry worth its weight in gold! Created in the shape of an ingot, this little cake was dreamt up for businessmen who worked at the Exchange. This succulent almond-based cake is a real treat. The version by Hugo & Victor should not be missed.
6- The Saint Honoré
Delicious, creamy, tasty, attractive! Hugo & Victor, Pierre Hermé, La pâtisserie des rêves, Lenôtre… We don’t know which to recommend. Try them all and let us know what you think on our Facebook page.
7- The Mille-Feuilles
1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15….No, stop! You are not going to count all the layers of this marvellous puff pastry! Why not try it in one of the better Parisian brasseries on condition that it is mounted to order!
8- The Opéra
The pastry for lovers of dark chocolate. On a Joconde biscuit base, with butter cream, chocolate ganache and chocolate icing, this cake is a must-taste! Why not try to make one yourself using the delicious chocolate by Patrick Roger?
9- The Croissant
Watch out, because there are two schools: those who prefer the butter croissant and those who prefer it without. Which side will you take? We cannot recommend any particular place as there are hundreds of bakery shops which will make you delicious ones.
10- The Paris-Brest
Choux pastry – Crumble on the choux pastry – mousseline praline cream, what a programme! We heartily recommend you try the version at the Pâtisserie des Rêves by Chef Contcini who has slipped a little surprise into his Paris-Brest.
