Michalak Take-Away | Deliciously offbeat pastries

It’s impossible to just walk past world champion Christophe Michalak’s take-away pastry shop! A word of warning, however – you won’t find anything traditional. Instead there are genuinely original inventions that are often unusual and always delicious.

Kosmik, Klakettes and K7 Audio creations

This renowned pastry chef signs his most improbable creations with a K as in MichalaK (Plaza Athénée and Choux d’Enfer)! Entering this pastry shop in a new style becomes an experience in which you hesitate between the “Kosmik” verrines that are made to the chef’s current inspiration, tongs, chocolate audio cassettes and videos, electric plugs that are nothing other than a bar of gianduja sprinkled with hazelnuts, almonds and soft salted butter caramel, “Fantastiks” that are between a tart and a dessert and many more suprises such as the “Taka Tartiner” spreads or some “En K” snacks… A lovely range of products that are a reflection of Christophe Michalak’s joyfully generous world that he wants to share with foodies. In fact, passing on techniques and know-how is what this pastry chef really cares about, he and his team passing on emotions and pleasure to the pastry lovers who enjoy his creations.

A Michalak concept store

And because this pastry chef has a finger in every foodie pie, the boutique offers pride of place to the many books by Christophe Michalak so you can try some of these fantastic inventions at home (choux, chocolate cakes, dream cakes…). You may even get a signed copy if the chef is on the premises. Do you need some help in the kitchen? This is also where you can find the Masterclass Michalak, his cooking school.

The Queens’ Pie: the “galette des reines” for 2015

For the 2015 Epiphany Christophe Michalak is shaking things up once again! His version of the traditional “galette des rois” (or kings’ pie) is called the Queens’ Pie and a super-hero mask replaces the traditional crown. In terms of taste, his pie is less buttery and more crispy thanks to the thin sheets of pastry that are caramelised and accompanied by tastes of mandarin, saffron and rose. As for the charm hidden inside, it is an “M” that is symbolic of that feeling of pleasure and can be worn as a necklace or a bracelet.
