At the corner of Rue des Canettes and Place Saint-Sulpice, the Café de la Mairie is the haunt of regulars. A genuine Parisian local café!
The interior is just a little old-fashioned and the waiters nonchalant but cordial, but they lend this café its old world feel, so typical of Parisian cafés. A genuine local café where you bump into the regulars having their morning coffee or taking advantage of the outdoor terrace while sipping a drink. This is a lively place at any time! Coffee and breakfast, snacking on a croque-monsieur or an omelette, afternoon tea with a pastry, it is also the ideal place to meet late in the afternoon to enjoy a pre-dinner drink. The little extra: the outdoor terrace in the summer is on the same square as the church of Saint-Sulpice. To sum up – it’s friendly and lively and a great place to be!
The beautiful snippet: the café was the setting for the film “La Discrète” by Christian Vincent (1990), starring Fabrice Luchini and Maurice Garrel.
