Les Editeurs | Coffee and books

It is difficult to put a label on Les Editeurs because this address in the 6th arrondissement appears as a blend of styles.

Simultaneously restaurant, bar lounge, tea room and library, the café is spread over two floors in the heart of literary Paris, just a stone’s throw from the La Une bookshop and the Théâtre de l’Odéon.
While the menu is tempting and pays tribute to traditional cooking (grilled salmon, pan-fried veal liver, beef tartare etc.), the books are what make this place so singular. And the neighbouring publishing houses which have made this aptly named café their headquarters will not tell you otherwise. And how! Picked up, thumbed, dog-eared, consulted and put back at the wishes of the readers, more than five thousand works line the shelves that surround the tables, simply waiting to be chosen. The consecration? The cream of the world of literature and culture regularly gathers here to hold book signings and award ceremonies.
On the décor side, with its wooden furniture, its red velvet drapes and its comfortable club chairs, the café has succeeded in creating an intimate and warm atmosphere that makes you want to linger. Bookworms can celebrate! Here is the ideal setting in which to attack Volume I of the complete works of Tolstoy, or discover the latest fashionable novel….or simply read the newspaper.
