Do you feel like doing a few lengths of a pool during your stay in Paris? Why not try the Pontoise swimming pool! It’s a full sports centre, but above all it’s the chance to go for a swim in a space that has been listed as a historic monument in the heart of the 5th arrondissement.
An exceptional building
The 33 metre pool will take you to the Paris of another age! The Pontoise pool is housed in a building that dates back to 1933 and is today listed as a historic building for its remarkable architecture. The old changing rooms in the two passageways that surround the pool have been preserved and add some old-world charm to this special place. The glass roof allows you to enjoy some pleasant natural light while you exercise. It is just a stone’s throw from Boulevard Saint-Germain.
Sporting activities for every taste
It is not because the building is quite old that the pool has not been given a modern facelift. On the contrary, Pontoise is a sports centre that offers many different activities. Apart from the many swimming classes and water activities (improvement and beginners’ classes, aquagym…), you can also take advantage of group classes such as Zumba, yoga, body building or gym (there are around twenty activities on offer), a fitness room with equipment for cardio training and muscle development, a sauna in which to relax and squash courts. You don’t need to sign up for the year to enjoy all these activities because there are passes and entrance fees that are adapted to every need. The other good news is that the pool offers evening access from Monday to Friday from 8pm to midnight. Fancy a late-night swim?
